Chapter 1 - Northern Spirit School [Part 1]

Hello readers, here is the first half of chapter 1.  These chapters are really long, so I might post half chapters in order to keep a more regular posting schedule.  I am also interested in finding out what people think about the names of things.  I feel extremely inadequate sometimes when trying to figure out places and people.  You will see what I mean soon enough.  Most importantly....enjoy!

New Translation - Round 2

It didn't take me long to realize I had looked at a novel some time ago but didn't do much with it.  Since it was still staring at me from my archive I thought, why not give it a try?  Something in the past pushed me make a file for it, so why not?

I am now looking at Great Ruler  [大主宰] written by potato [土豆] who is one of the top vegetable writers of the online novel writing scene in China.  What is a vegetable writer you say?  Apparently it is some Chinese meme where online novel writers decided to use vegetable names as their username.  The ones I know of are "I Eat Tomatoes", "Potato", "Banana",  and "Peas".  Two from that list are on the top 5 list of successful writers, so either it is a coincidence, or there is power in the vegetable!

One more note to close this post with.  I am not satisfied with my rendition of the novel title yet.  It leaves much to be desired.  The characters 主宰 cab mean to dominate, to dictate, to rule or simply master.  I have the feeling that the title of the book should convey a sense of oppression, however I am not sure how to send that message in English.  Tyrant is the closest I can come, but that sends a message of evil.

Not a good start?  Ah well, maybe my dear readers can offer up a suggestion.

Chapter 1 - Thunder Seal (Part 1)

NOTE: So as I was finishing up this chapter somebody decided to take on this work. Since I hadn't posted my chapter yet, technically the right of way goes to them, which is okay. There are tons of things to work on, so I'll just go sniff around and see what I can find :D I decided to post what I did anyways, just because I don't want those several hours of work to be wasted.

New Translation God of Thunder

I translate from time to time so I figured I should make a place for all the work I have done.  Recently I have become interested in God of Thunder [霸天雷神] which is a web novel written by Xiao Qian [萧潜].  It has enjoyed some success so I am sure English speakers would enjoy it as well.

By the way, I do mostly a machine translation, dictionary combination for my work.  If you are expecting perfection then you probably don't want to read this.  I will give you good quality English that should read well, however I am aware of the fact that my translation is merely an approximation of the true meaning.  I will probably mess some things up.  If you don't like that, then here is your disclaimer :D

Also don't hold me to a fixed schedule.  I am in medical school right now, so time is a premium to me.  Why am I even doing this?  I don't even know...sometimes you have to find a way to relax.
